Today I started labelling my footage of everything I captured on Saturday night, when going through my footage I am worried that I do not have enough to be able to fill a 30 second video however this will be something that will be finalised once I start on my rough edit. When labelling the footage I was very cautious of making sure I read my proposal to ensure what I have captured is what I have. I am happy with what I have however just want a little more.

Today I started to look at what kind of music I can be using for my video, as previously discussed I will be using upbeat recent music, however the music will have to be royalty free in order for me to be able to use it, trying to find royalty free upbeat recent music is actually proving to be really challenging as most of it is not royalty free. This will be something I am going to work on trying to find. I am going to start editing my rough edit tomorrow and have already put some clips together which I am really proud of.

Today I carried on searching for music to use, from being a regular in Flame I do have an advantage on being able to know what kind of music they play in Flame and what the other customers like to hear. A genre of music that has become very popular right now is old skool Ibiza songs, I decided to have a look into this genre and as a result have found a royalty free Annie Mac set that was performed outside "Cafe Mambo" as part of the radio one Ibiza event that happens every year I will be going through this set to find the perfect song that I feel will highlight Flames unique experience perfectly.

Today I started working on my rough edit, I am very worried about my edit as this is the most important thing I would have ever edited and I am nervous that something will go wrong especially because I will not be in college to ask for somebodies help. So far everything seems to be going okay and I have not had any issues. Tomorrow I am going to carry on editing today I have mainly just been playing around with the clips to see what I like and don't like. I am excited to get it all finished and receive my feedback.

Tonight I went back to Flame to get some more shots, I took the camera equipment with me again, this time around they were not as accommodating to me however they were very busy and therefore I was not their main priority which I understand. Unfortunately I did ask them if they would be able to take a production shot of me and they said I am not allowed to do that just in case some one from the council sees or if it is sent out somewhere it should not be. I respected their rules and will write about this in my evaluation.

Rough edit

This is my rough edit for my promotional video, I will be sending this out to various different audiences including the management of Flame, I have been struggling with the graphics on this edit as I have found that premier pro has not been working for me as well as it usually does and with us being away from college I do not have anyone to seek help from. I have been trying to watch youtube tutorials to see if there is anything I can do to resolve the problem unfortunalty I have not been able to find anything as of yet ad am going to explain this all in my evaluation. I hope to resolve this problem by the time I finish my final edit.

Feedback

When finishing my rough edit, it was very important to me that the management at Flame have seen it and have approved it before I go any further with post production. when speaking to the management of Flame on the phone they have invited me to meet them so I can show them the video and ask them a few questions.

What I asked them is:

What do you think of the video so far?

"I really like what you have achieved so far and think that the video will be really good once completely finished"

What were you expecting from the video?

"Well if I am honest I was not too sure what I was going to be expecting from the video, but I really like what you have got so far and am really impressed with what you have come up with, I especially like when the camera flips."

What can I improve on?

"I think that maybe the music should be a little different and maybe drop when you can see the people dancing and  jumping all around"

I then thanked Flame for their time and arranged to meet up with them again to show them the final edit and ask for their feedback.

Final edit
Feedback for final product

Just like for my rough edit I did the same thing and sent the final edit out to the same people, I did this as I wanted to show them the progress that has been made by me.

Primary Audience:

What do you think of the final Product?

"I love the final product and can really see how it has been developed from the rough edit, I can clearly see how it has been changed and how you've taken on the feedback from before."

What would you change?

"Even though I think it's really good I would change the speed in the clips as sometimes it is a little slow also you can tell some shots have been colour graded and some haven't this does look a bit odd in some parts"

What do you think of the music?

"Really upbeat and current"

Secondary Audience:

What do you think of the final product?

"Really good very impressed"

What would you change?

"Some shots have an effect over them and some don't so they all should be the same"

What do you think of the music?

"I like the song even though I have never heard of it before"

Tertiary audience:

What do you think of the final product?

"It makes me wish I was old enough to go out"

What would you change?

"Nothing"

What do you think of the music?

"Goes well with the shots of people dancing"

Flame Management:

What do you think of the final product?

"I am very impressed with what you have come up with and can clearly see the creative flow"

What would you change?

"It is a shame that we are not allowed to show off our Writsbands as it would be such an asset to the video"

What do you think of the music?

"Very Ibiza which is very popular right now so good choice"

What exactly is a Director's cut?

A director's cut is an edited version of a film that is supposed to represent the director's own approved edit. 'Cut' explicitly refers to the process of film editing; in preparing a film for release, the director's cut is preceded by the assembly and rough editor's cut and usually followed by the final cut meant for the public film release.

Director's cuts of film are not generally released to the public, because on most films the director does not have a final cut privilege. The production company, distributors, and/or studio (anybody with money invested in the film) can impose changes that they think will make the film profit more at the box office. This sometimes means a happier ending or less ambiguity, or excluding scenes that would earn a more audience-restricting rating, but more often means that the film is simply shortened to provide more screenings per day

Director’s Cut is the original version of the film , or the movie which the director had thought to be .

it is of the director’s perspective , the movie you saw on the theaters is the edited version which producers/investors wanted to be , but they made a copy of the original print and releases online and the online one with(directors cut) tag is the director’s version .

Director’s cut is always a better version because you saw the movie of director’s perspective and if the ending follows producer’s mind , then it’ll ruin the real beauty of of the film .

Producers try to make more profit , so they mold things on the way which suits him not the thoughts behind the film .

Today we came back to college from our Easter break, as written above I had been having trouble with my edit over the break and therefore wanted to ask for some help. Once I had got all of that sorted I then moved on to going through my website to ensure I had everything that I needed to get the grade I need. I had a couple of diaries missing and got on with that, I then started to look into what I will do for my presentation on Thursday and decided that I wanted to create a directors cut. As I do not know much about this I started to look into the definitions tomorrow I am going to look at youtube tutorials of how to create them.

Through looking into directors cuts and looking at the definitions of what it is I have noticed that it would be best for me to let the video play and me explain why I chose to make the decisions I made and why I felt that they were best for my promotional video. I will be explaining my inspirations and why they have helped me. I am excited to do this presentation as this is something I have not done before and the one thing I have found about this unit is that I am constantly challenging myself in different ways.

24/04/2019

Today I started working on my powerpoint presentation for tomorrow, I have included my inspirations and am going to talk about why they helped me so much. My presentation will last 13 minutes with 2 minutes for questioning, I am excited about the presentation and to finish the unit.

25/04/2019

Today I delivered my presentation to the class of my final product, I always get so nervous when pitching alone as I always feel that I forget what I want to say. I felt that this presentation went very well and I am happy with it. I was very sad to know that this was the last presentation/pitch I will deliver to the class however I know that I have come such as long way since my first pitch and appreciate how I have been mentored over the past two years as I am sure I will be pitching again at some point for my future job and love how I have learnt to present with confidence and ease.

Today we started to organise our areas for the gallery presentation which is due in on Wednesday, I decided to have a plinth which will play my final product on loop on one of the Macs. I found a large plinth that I knew would suit exactly what I was going for. I then decided I did not want it to be just black as that would look a bit boring so I decided it would look really exciting if I did multiple colours on the plinth which is the colour theme of the night club. I have attatched some pictures to show what the plinth looks like so far.

30/04/2019

Today I completed everything for my presentation area, I gave my plinth a final check to make sure it was up to the standard that I wanted it to be, I then started on uploading everything to my website that I may have been missing from the past couple of days. I then spoke to my tutor asking her what she thought of my area and how I could improve it, the suggestion she gave me was to maybe take some pictures of people having a good time at the club, I then went through my photos to find some appropriate photos and pinned them up on the wall. We also thought it would be great to have some marketing posters created by flame for events that they have coming up. I really like the way my area looks and tomorrow I will have another look at it with a fresh pair of eyes to make sure there is nothing more I want to add. As I write my final diary I feel nostalgic and sad, even though I will not be carrying on with this side of media and will be going into something very different the course has taught me so much, I am very grateful for all the people who have helped and been patient with me along the way and would like to thank you all very much for that. Below I have attached some pictures of my area.
