Unit 9

Pulp Fiction

I really found this film difficult to watch and follow because the storyline did not actually make any sense to me at all and because of the length of the film. I have actually watch another film by this director before and actually felt the same way about the storyline and length. I do understand how this film can be iconic and could be considered a classic however the film just wasn't for me.

The director did use some good shots in the film and I see why the story did so well when it did.

I know I would not want to watch another one of this directors films as I do not like his style which is non-linear.

Django unchainned

Today in class we watch Django, this is an award winning film set many years ago about a black slave trying to get his revenge for his wife. I have previously seen this film in my own time and did not like it when watching it again in class I again did not enjoy this film. I found that it was too long and that the storyline was very confusing, as a director I find Quentin Tarrintio's style and unique stamp on most of his films to not be interesting or unique just strange. I understood that this film was set in a time where the language that is used in this film was acceptable and was a huge part of everyones vocab, I found in this film that it was uncomfortably too violent for me and not just in the scenes where the black slaves where killed even when seeing the white people be killed it was too much to watch. In this film there was a mix of serious scenes and some scenes which were set out to be slightly comedic, for me I only really found one scene to be slightly funny which was when they were trying to decide to where the bags or not. However other then that I did not find the film funny and thought it was insensitive to make anything in this film comedic.

Reservoir Dogs

Today we watched another Tarintino film called Resevior dogs, this film followed a storyline about a group of gangsters who were going to rob a jewellery shop however the film follows a non linear structure which to me again can be quite confusing as there was points in the film when I had no idea what was going on. This was the first film that Taraintino was given a big budget to direct, therefore we are unable to see all of his stylings in this film. In one of the scenes one of the characters is integrating a police officer and the scene is very grusome and can be seen as very uncomfortable, in this scene the character turns on the radio the song that plays is very upbeat and something you would not expect to see in this kind of a scene. This is again one of the stylings of Taraintino.
