Lesson 1;shot types angles and movements

Shot types angles and movements homework.

In this scene it starts of with a close up shot of Kevin looking at himself in the mirror. the angle then changes to an over the shoulder shot of Kevin still looking at himself in the mirror which is filmed from the waist upwards. The final part of the scene is a close up shot when Kevin screams into the mirror. I chose to look at this scene because for a beginner like myself there are simple camera techniques that I can easily identify.

Lesson 2 ISO,shutter speed and aperture.

This is my extreme close up shot.

I took this shot by having the Aperture at F4, the ISO at 1250 and the shutter speed at 1/200. To get this shot I had to adjust both the zoom and the focus to produce the best image I possibly could.

This is my quick movement captured precisely. For this shot I had the aperture at F4.2, the ISO at 1250 and the speed shutter at 1/200. Chloe my partner was running down the corridor and I saw this to be my perfect opportunity to take the perfect shot.

This is the candid shot I took of my partner Chloe. I had the Aperture at F4.8 the shutter speed at 320 and the ISO at 1/1000. To be able to achieve this image I sat on the step while Chloe was looking out the window and laughing I saw this to be the perfect time to capture the perfect candid shot.

This is my Portrait with background out of focus shot. To get this shot I had the aperture at F4, the ISO at 800 and the Shutter speed at 1/80. I chose to take a picture of fashion instead of a person as I thought it would be different to what everyone else would have done.

Lesson 3;  180 degree rule evaluation

In my lesson today we were told about the 180 degree rule, this rule states that two characters in a scene should keep the same left/right relationship to one another. When using this rule you should imagine an invisible line if the camera crosses this invisible line it is known as breaking the rule. As a class we were then put into groups and asked to film a sort scene using the rule. My group was asked to film a scene in which somebody was being interviewed. We decided to use the refectory as our location as we felt it looked like a real setting where an interview would take place.

When filming our group did not break the 180 degree rule until we decided we should in order for our understanding on the rule to grow.

In the lesson today we were taught how to scriptwrite and the codes and conventions of scriptwriting. We were taught how to identify "sluglines" and how to write a successful script. After annalysing a script we got into groups and wrote a script which can be seen above. After completing this script we went out and filmed using all the other techniques we had been taught over the past week such as camera angles shot types and movements and the 180 degree rule. After filming we took the our footage back to the classroom and edited it to become a short film using premier pro.

Lesson5: Foley sounds

In the lesson today we learnt about Foley sounds and how to create these sounds using everyday materials. As a group we used lots of different objects to create lots of different sounds such as; a leek breaking to create a bone creaking sound, rolling up some old newspaper and hitting it with a stick to make it sound like someone being hit in the face, we also poured out grains of sand to make it sound like rain and much more. To be able to recorded these sounds we used a zoom and edited these noises into premier pro. I enjoyed this task as it was interesting to see how sounds are recorded in the real film industry.

Animation in Carl's lesson

I started off with learning how to create a bouncing ball animation as I thought this would challenge me because I am a beginner and I am not very confident with working with these different programmes, I am going to try and create something a little bit more complicated now to see how I get on.

Pack shots

A pack shot is a camera technique that is often used in tv adverts for different products. The video below explains how this is done with makeup.

Radio advert

Radio advert evaluation

Today we recorded a radio advert using zooms. I found this lesson really interesting as we got to use loads of different techniques like learning how to script write again and using adobe audition for the first time. My radio advert was about throat sweets, I enjoyed todays lesson because I got to use lots of different techniques that I've never used before, such as celtx which is a website that helps you build a script in the right way with all the right ques and directions. I a aware that the next project that I will be doing is making our own radio show so I realise he importance of learning how to use adobe audition.

I have also been using functional skills of English as I have been script writing in a descriptive way to try and persuade the listener to buy my product. Next time I could try to challenge myself by making the advert longer or putting in other sounds to make the advert more realistic than I have already tried to make it.

Animation

Today in Carl's lesson I revisited animation because I had struggled with it the first time around, it took me a while to create this video as I did get very confused. However I am quite proud of what I did manage to achieve in the lesson. I first of all created my character in adobe illustrator and then converted it to after effects then uploaded to youtube.

2d parallax

Today in Carl's lesson I learnt how to create a 2d parallax, which is a picture with a moving background, at first I found it really challenging because I was not sure how it worked or what I was actually meant to be doing. However after being shown and watching other people I understood and created something I am actually quite proud of.

2d parallax using photoshop and after effects

Today in Carl's lesson I carried on with 2d parallax, however this time I challenged myself by using photoshop and after effects to create a even better moving image. I followed a youtube tutorial to teach me how to use the different programs and how to create the final product which is the moving image. I did actually find this quite hard and did not really understand what I had to do at first but after a while and with some help from both Carl and a class member I started to understand what I had to do.
