Pitch
Pitch slides

Today I presented my pitch of my final idea for my FMP project, I started working on my pitch on Monday and continued to research in order to be able to add to it and speak confidently about my idea. I worked on my pitch in both preparing and rehearsing in order to try an achieve a high grade in my pitch. As I have worked with others in most projects I am not used to pitching on my own and felt that I wanted to rehearse in order to make sure that I spoke about everything possible and did not miss anything out. During my pitch I spoke about my inspirations for the project and why I felt that it was the best project for me to make to end the course by showing off everything I had learnt in terms of my production skills and everything that I am hoping to learn and pursue in my university course. During the pitch I wanted to include the other inspirations I had seen which were existing professional products made by other night clubs nearby as I felt that by watching these videos it really helped me gain a vision for what I wanted by video to look like. During the pitch I was quite nervous and wanted to make sure that I was still keeping on track with everything. I felt that the pitch went really well and was happy with the amount of information I was able to provide, I also felt happy that I was able to answer the questions with confidence and ease and I feel that when I next have to pitch on my own it will be even better.

Today I started to complete my contingency plan for my project. After completing my pitch yesterday I started working on my contingency plan which will determine how I can work around any problems which may need to be solved in production or post- production. As I am working with a client I believe that there could be a few things which could go wrong which means I will be working on the plan all weekend to ensure it is deatiled to a high extent.

Interview questions for customers

How often do you go on a night out?

How often do you come to Flame?

How long have you been coming to Flame?

What is it the draws you back to the club?

What do you like about Flame?

I have started to look at interview questions as i will be interviewing some of the customers at the night club and some of the managers. To be able to do this I am going to look at some tutorials and excising interview videos.

Interview styles

The type of interviews I want to conduct will be light hearted and unserious. It will be just a few questions which are stated above, I will ask these questions to the customers at flame at will be displaying their answers as graphics on the screen in the video. I wanted to research into interview techniques as I will still need to stay professional when interviewing the customers for the client. I found that this video has really helped me as it is light hearted which is how I want to be with the customers I interview however the interviewer also gets the answers that he wants. I will be using these techniques when interviewing for my promotional video.

18/03/2019

Today I started looking into interview techniques or when I film at flame, as I have been advised to ask the customers questions about what they like about Flame and why they come back every weekend. Last year when studying my FMP my research was heavily about interview techniques however it was mainly about how to be professional as I was dealing with a sensitive subject. I wanted to look at this clip as when interviewing people in flame it will still be professional however a little more lighthearted.

Today I worked on my Pre-Production paperwork, I wanted to spend time on my treatment sheet as I knew that it would take me the longest I am going to show my tutor to look for feedback on how it can be improved. I found the treatment sheet quite difficult as I was not too sure if I was filling it out today and that is why I am looking for some feedback I then wanted to look at how I can gain some knowledge on my interview skills as I will be asking the customers some questions about how often they come to the night club etc. Tomorrow I am going to carry on with my Pre-Production paperwork and go over my treatment sheet for some feedback.

Today I started working on my budget breakdown, I found this document very interesting to complete as even though I will not actually be renting out the equipment and will be borrowing it from the college I believe that it is good to know what kind of a budget I would need to have if I was making a professional standard video for a paying client. I also received some feedback from my tutor about my my treatment sheet, the feedback was that I should change the

Treatment sheet final draft

Today I carried on with my budget breakdown, I am not able to complete any work over the weekend as I will be working everyday and night and therefore wanted to get as much done today as I possibly could. I have included multiple sources on my budget breakdown, as I previously mentioned in my other diaries I found it really interesting how much it really does cost to rent out the equipment which has made me realise how lucky we are to be able to use the equipment at college. In my next lesson I am going to seek feedback for my budget breakdown and then move on to looking at how to create my graphics.

In my video I am going to have graphics sliding across the screen which will be promoting the different rooms in the club and their in club promotions such as "ritzbands". As I am not the most skilled editor I wanted to be able to watch a tutorial to understand how I can create them and make them slides across the screen. To be able achieve this I wanted to look at youtube tutorials to teach me how to create them and make them look good. I have found that this youtube tutorial has really helped me as the person is speaking clearly and I can see what he is trying to achieve. I am now going to try and re create this with my own piece of footage. I am also going to ask for some 1-1 help to teach me how to do this with Micheal on Wednesday as I find that I learn best when seeing watching somebody else complete a task and then me try to copy them. Overall I have found this tutorial really helpful and will continue to watch it during the editing process just in case I need a reminder of anything.

25/03/2019

in my video I am going to be including on screen graphics, I am not very confident when it comes to editing and therefore wanted to watch some tutorials before i started to create my own. I managed to find a really good tutorial which has really helped me, I spent my lesson watching and analysing this video, to be able to achieve this I am going to have some 1-1 help with the technician on Wednesday to go over with me how to make them just to make sure I am confident with what I have achieved so I can edit on my own. Tomorrow I am going to carry on with my other paperwork for example my budget breakdown to make sure it is completed properly.

Budget Breakdown/Equipment list

This is my budget breakdown which includes multiples sources for each piece of equipment that I will be using.

Talent realese form
Location Reccee

My talent release forms have been completed I am going to get them printed off and signed by everyone in the production on Saturday as I do not want to lose them or get them dirty in the mean time.

Today I had a progress review with my tutor we went through everything I have already completed and everything I have started, she showed me how to create a storyboard which was something I was originally putting off completing as I was not sure what I was doing and how to create it but once she showed me "Storyboardthat" I saw how easy it was.

This is the first part of the story board that I have created, this will be the part of the video which shows the night progressively getting more and more busy I have used the website "storyboardthat" which you can change scenes and add different kinds of characters this is really good for me as I am able to change the scenes between the dance floor and the room upstairs which is usually a bit quieter. I have used silhouettes to make it look even more busier. Next I am going to show the scenes which will be shot in the bar area and the quieter area in the upstairs part of the club.

27/03/2019

Today I finished my story board, this was something I was very worried about creating however once I was shown how to create one on storyboardthat I found that it was actually really easy and that it was really enjoyable to create one. Tomorrow I will be carrying on with my pre production paperwork and completing my risk assessment. I have found that while creating the risk assessment there are a lot of risks when filming in a night club e.g exposure to alcohol, smoking etc. However these are all risks I have taken action to.

28/03/2019

Today I started my risk assessment and got it completed ahead of Saturday. I will after the event has happened go back and tick that everything was a risk to confirm that I had taken the necessary action. I am looking forward to filming on Saturday, I have taken home my equipment today ahead of Saturday. I will have a second camera person to ensure that I have many shots of as much as I possibly can. I am feeling a tad nervous as I have never been completely in charge of a production before, however am excited to show off everything I have learnt over the past year.
