Today was the first day of production which I feel went really well, we went to Green house mentoring to interview with Ian Pirks who is the leader of the charity I spoke to him about how the charity works and what he does on a day to day basis, Ian's questions can be seen on my Pre-Production page. I then met with a volunteer of the charity Mark Winn who works with the admin I asked Ian about why he chooses to volunteer and how many hours he gives up per week. The only issue that we had with production was that when we started to set up we noticed that on our mic something was loose which meant that the mic was often moving around which would eventually cause background noise that we would not want. I then took the mic back to college to get it swapped. Other than this small issue we had a productive day of filming and are looking forward to meeting the people at Keech.

Today I went to Keech, we visited both the children's unit and the adults unit to really get a feel for the hospice. When we were given a tour of the children's unit we were taken into lots of different rooms to which I was very shocked about what I saw as I had always had the idea that the hospice would have been a sad place however when were taken into the different rooms we discovered it is not like this at all. As all the rooms were very homely which I feel will make a difference to the patients time at Keech. We then spoke with one of the nurses at Keech and asked her about why she worked there?, how she got involved? and much more which can be seen on my Pre-Production page. We also had a look around the different grounds and gardens which had been donated by Alan Titchmarsh again I feel that these grounds will make a huge difference to the patients as it will make them feel comfortable. We then met with a patient of Keech called Hedi who had been accessing Keech for four years, she spoke of all the amazing things Keech had done for both her and her family which included Art therapy for her daughter at her school and for herself using the pool which helped her get her strength back after an operation. From going to Keech I really learnt a lot and it has changed my opinion and idea of what the hospice is like. We then travelled to one of the many charity shops that Keech to interview with a volunteer called Peter who gives up around 20 hours per week to help at both the shop and the hospice. It wqas exciting to see how much work he actually does and how long he had been doing it for. Overall we had a really positive day and managed to capture so much great footage.

Today we visited Level trust in Luton town centre to interview them about what their charity is all about and what they do on a day to day basis. I spoke to two people at Level trust, Maddy who is the leader of the charity, and Neil who does the admin of the charity. They were both very helpful and it was really interesting to talk to them both, something I noticed about the shop was that it was very colourful and did not look like the average charity shop. Maddy who I spoke to said that in the first year that Level trust has been open they have done so well in terms of making connections with different schools to spread the word of the charity. They said that they are currently trying to fundraise to be able to open more days of the week, this will be so that they will be able to pay the staff as they know that the weekend could be better for some families to come in. Overall today was very successful and I have learnt a lot that I did not already know. I am very excited to film with Level trust again at their fundraising event next Tuesday.

Today we were not filming, we will be continuing to film on Monday which will just be shots of Luton town centre as cutaways and the opening line of the script. Today I also received my feedback from Unit 3 professional practice which can be seen on the Unit 3 page. I am excited to continue filming next week as this week I have learnt so much which has changed my idea on what charity is. I am going to start labelling my footage soon so that I know what I want to use and what I do not want to use. Today the recording booth was free so me and my group member went and recorded the

Today my partner and I went into town to film some cutaway shots and to film the introduction scene, however the wind was very loud and when we went to review the footage we noticed that because the wind was very loud we are going to have to re film tomorrow when we are in town again for the level trust. My partner also put a lot of footage on to my computer which I am going to start labelling soon.

Today my partner and I went to Level Trust again as this time we were filming their fundraising event which was a zombie themed escape event held underneath the town centre. The way in which the game worked was that the group of adults had to come in a big group and work out different codes to be able to get onto the next level. The group had an hour to complete he different challenges however they were not allowed to see how much time they had left. If they wanted this information they had to pay £1 if they wanted a clue to the answer they had to pay £2 and if they wanted the whole answer they had to pay £5. Overall I can see why this event may help level trust raise money as it is a very fun game and one that which I would enjoy playing myself. The leader of level trust said that they had another 4 groups in that day which would help raise them a lot of money. After this my partner and I went to re film yesterdays footage in the square which went really well. Then I went back to college to start labelling my footage.
Learning how to make lower thirds on premier pro
Today I worked on learning how to make lower thirds in Premier Pro as I know that I will have to be using this for both the rough and final edit. This is something which I havent used before and never noticed how easy they were to create. Before working on them I looked at some youtube tutorials to help me gain some knowledge.
This is the lower thirds that I have worked on and have perfected I am now confident when it comes to editing for the rough and final edit as I feel that I know what Im doing. AS you can see in the video I have used effects to ensure that the text slides in and out for more of an effect.

Today we filmed at Tokko in town, we was both really excited to film with them as we have met with them twice now and both times they have been so welcoming. We filmed in the same room that we filmed in the last time as we felt that this room had the best lighting and felt really homely which was the vibe that we really wanted to go for throughout the whole documentary. Tyler who we were interviewing with was telling us that all the furniture at Tokko was furniture that was donated which really helped them out when they first started as they knew this would have been a huge cost to them. We have now finished filming which means that after half term we will start editing. Tomorrow I have a maths exam however after I am going to start labelling my footage.
